Online Training Programs

Today, in 2012 the modern Jiu Jitsu practitioner is spoiled for choice. Most major cities have a Jiu Jitsu school nowadays, whether the instructor is homegrown or a Brazilian export many people need not look far for quality instruction.

We also have the internet, We can find out about tournaments, seminars, watch instructional clips on YouTube, study training footage, research our opponents, post on forums and share knowledge with students from around the world.

Then, we have online training databases, Like Marcelos MGinaction, the Alliance Instructional series, Jordon Schulz’s BJJunder170, the Mendes brothers have also recently released their own online programme. We have at our fingertips, access to instruction from Current and former world champions. We can search most any technique or transition, stop and start the videos, watch them on repeat, take notes, the possibilities are endless.

I have been using databases like these to further my training for the last couple of years, as have the other members of my team. I cannot speak highly enough of the Online Programs mentioned above.

Some people however tell me I am wasting my money, that the instructors are just showing parts of their game and not giving away the real secrets. In my opinion, this is not the case. Its all there, if you know how to use it. It is not enough to browse the database from time to time.

I was at a Rafael Lovato Jr Seminar and he mentioned we should treat our training as if it were a subject in college, If I were studying English and I wanted to ace all my tests, I would have to go to class, take notes, study my notes, ask questions etc etc.

You cannot expect to fly through the belts, kill it at the tournaments and be the best you can be if you leave your training on the mats.

What do you guys think? Am I wasting my money? Do any of you subscribe to these programs? How often do you use them?

I would love to hear from you guys on this one.
P.s Keep an eye on my blog I might be able to provide a few discounts for these programs in the coming weeks!
